Current L.A.F. policies and procedures in regards to Coopers Mountain Freedom Flight Park are as follows:
- All Pilots flying without instructor supervision require a minimum current H2 / P2 rating
- All Pilots who are not current flying in the Lumby Valley require a pilot briefing from a current local instructor or current local P3/H3, or higher pilot.
- Valid HPAC insurance or equivalent is required. Insurance can be renewed and Foreign pilots can get temporary Canadian insurance online at www.HPAC.ca
- Approved helmets and reserve chutes are mandatory for all flights.
- L.A.F. waivers must be signed annually.... Pilots ...please download waiver here http://www.freedomflightschool.com/resources.html
Print, fill it out, sign it and deposit it with annual cash donation in drop box in pilots lounge before flying.You can also send the interac donation to [email protected] ). If you have the tech ability ...you can now also digitally sign the waiver and email it to [email protected] . Waivers are also available at The Freedom Flight Park Pilots Lounge @ #249 Mabel Lake Rd. Please fill it out completely and leave it at the pilots lounge drop box on the way by with your annual donation and get your pilot briefing BEFORE FLYING. - Pilots are asked to only land in authorized fields unless its an emergency or during authorized XC competition.
- Absolutely no commercial use of this site is allowed without written authorization from the L.A.F. and Freedom Flight School.
- Flight School/Tandem Flight Policy - Only current certified instructors with current HPAC insurance and approval from LAF and Freedom Flight School may teach or fly tandems from Coopers or Saddle Launches and land at Freedom Flight Park...Local L.A.F. annual waivers must be signed by all involved and applicable donations made before launching from Coopers or landing at the Freedom Flight Park.

Note: The L.A.F. accepts user donations from pilots for maintaining Coopers Launch Site and the pilots lounge at the Freedom Flight Park. L.A.F. Memebrs $100.00, local users $50.00 and $20.00 for visiting pilot per year is very much appreciated as a minimum donation. Annual donations are accepted at the Freedom Flight Park pilots lounge and can be made when signing the annual mandatory waiver and deposited into the LAF donation box or sent by interac to [email protected]
Please be aware of possible active logging on the road up to launch.
Drive slow and follow the blue marks on the trees at each intersection to find Coopers Launch. Best to follow other pilots on first drive up. Please do not rush or agrivate local road users or landowners. If you end up in a situation please diffuse immediately and offer cash compensation, if pertinent.
The only authorized main landing areas for non students at this time are the 3 cut runways at The Freedom Flight Park marked with a windsock at #249 Mabel Lake Road unless its a real emergency. Do not land in any uncut hay fields if possible...even the ones at the Freedom Flight Park or ...you will have to donate $20.00 to the local food bank via the pilots lounge box with a note.
Once landed on one of the 3 long runways at the Freedom Flight Park...go to the official breakdown / pack up area in front of the pilots lounge immediately. ALWAYS watch for incoming traffic and give way....even when walking. Be aware that motorized aircraft may also be using the runways at times.
Do not scratch so low that you cannot glide safely to the Freedom Flight Park.
